Documenting the Enterprise Architecture

A Framework is often used to provide guidance in the production of Enterprise Architecture artifacts. Common to all Frameworks, models are the core artifacts used to communicate the architecture.

Some key model types are:

  1. Data Models
  2. Process Models

These model types each have a well defined and understood (at least by architects) structure, so are the most effective way to succinctly convey the most relevant information.

Documents, wikis, and databases are also effective tools that can be used to supplement the EA models.
